Cox Distributors Touch Down for Global Conference Ahead of Seawork

Conferenza Cox

Lancing, 11 June 2019 – 55 representatives from Cox Powertrain‘s global distributor network, comprising 36 distributors from all corners of the world, are today taking part in the British company’s first global distributor conference ahead of Seawork International.

Following the one-day conference, the delegates, who work for some of the world’s most prominent marine diesel distributors, will attend Europe’s largest commercial workboat show for sea trials of Cox’s high-powered diesel outboard, the CXO300. The distributor demos are a precursor to the first public demos, which will take place at the show on Wednesday and Thursday.

It’s a significant step for the Cox distributors as they witness the powerful on-water performance of single and twin install pre-production engines following ten years of development and months of final tests ahead of production, which starts in the autumn.

Alan Ow, Managing Director of one of Cox’s Asia based distributors, Sime Darby Industrial, said, “There is a big demand among commercial boat owners in our region to install diesel outboards due to the increased safety factors, higher performance and a longer equipment life span. We have waited a long time for a high-powered diesel that can deliver all of these things, so we are very excited to see how the CXO300 performs on the water.”

With Cox’s global distributor, dealer and service network finalised, the company can now focus on delivering a first-class after sales service to its customers, which, according to Joel Reid, Cox’s Global sales Director, is one of the three pillars upon which we they have built their business model.

“If our after sales service is not as good as our product, our offering will just crumble. Our customers will only be happy if they can use the engine to go out to sea reliably. We have put in place stringent customer service milestones throughout our service network to deliver a quicker service and smoother experience.”

Public Demos of Cox Diesel Outboard to Commence at Seawork

Seawork International 2018, Mayflower Park, Southampton, 11th to 13th June, Stand #PY65, Berths VA29-VA31

Europe’s leading commercial workboat exhibition marks the beginning of Cox Powertrain’s EMEA demonstration programme of their highly anticipated diesel outboard, the CXO300. The British diesel specialist will offer visitors to this year’s Seawork International a chance to participate in on-water demonstrations of its pioneering performance diesel outboard.

The demonstrations will take place on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June and will offer an exclusive opportunity to experience the performance of one of the world’s most talked about marine engine developments. There is a big demand for a high-power diesel outboard and many commercial users recognise the huge benefits that such an engine will deliver.

As a heavy-duty diesel-powered outboard engine, the CXO300 brings a long-awaited single fuel alternative to the global commercial workboat market. It offer the benefits of using diesel, such as fuel efficiency and safety, with the cost reducing benefits of operating an outboard. Reduced maintenance and haul out costs will also be an important factor as they lessen the disruption to the vessel’s operation. The CXO300 offers at least a 25% better range compared to a gasoline outboard and it has a 100% higher peak torque at the crankshaft than the leading gasoline 300hp outboards, which enables the craft to move more weight more efficiently, reach peak torque and top power more quickly.

Cox Powertrain will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the many benefits of the performance diesel outboard.

Visitors are being urged to sign up in advance to secure a Seawork demonstration at www.coxmarine.com

Mr. Grey: the new engine that turns you on

Motore Hidea grigio

Who wouldn’t like to always be trendy on boat and impress his own partner or the woman he wants to win over? How to do that?

Well, you could start from the engine! Obviously, not any engine, but our Mr. Grey, the Hidea outboard with a chic and powerful character at the same time.

Mr.Grey is an elegant and sophisticated outboard engine 40SK, standing out in its shininess, distinguishing itself from all the other outboards, mainly in combination with the wood or the white of the boat. If you are open-minded, nonconformist and always want to try new things, well, your engine is Mr. Grey!

What are you waiting for to order it?

Integrated battery: a revolution!

Do you already know the Hidea outboards with integrated battery? If yes, you must love them: they are a revolutionary innovation, that will make you see in a different way your experience on boat. Let’s go and find out more about them and understand why they are so advantageous.

In the range of the Hidea outboards, that are traded in Italy by Cartello, there are some models with integrated battery: the HDF8-IB, HDF9.9-IB, HDF15-IB and HDF20-IB, respectively 4-stroke with 8, 9.9, 15 e 20 Hp. They are unique engines on market (specifically the outboards with 15 hp and 20 hp), since they are characterised by a kind of electrical starter with battery inserted under the hood, with no electrical cables on board.

You understand advantages are various. Among all:

Space. There is no encumbrance on board, no room lost because of cables, switch, etc., so that even small boats or inflatable rifts can afford the luxury of the electrical starter.

Maintenance. Since the battery is integrated in the hood, the engine doesn’t need ongoing maintenance because of the electrical connection. Many nuisances avoided, so.

Comfort. The engine housing integrates the battery without the need of installing an external one, in order to make installation much easier and comfortable, within everybody’s grasps.

User-friendliness. The engine can be started with minimun effort. Forget the fatigue requested by manual starters. Stop to back pain and efforts with your arms. You can relax.

But it’s not all. The thing that these engines are equipped with a battery with lithium ions has important advantages, making the Hidea outboards with integrated battery a unique product.

First of all, the lthium ions battery is ultralight and compact. This allows the outboard to be really light and easily transportable. It is, then, a kind of much safer and quick to recharge battery. Thanks to the lithium ions, the battery of Hidea outboards has an almost missing self-discharge, resisting really well to the winter stop, it is not subject to the memory effect and has a really long duration. You don’t need to worry if winters are particularly freezing or summers too scorching: the battery works well also at extreme temperatures. Last but not least, they are green batteries, with really few pollutants and very easy to dispose of.

Do you already have an engine and want to turn it into one with the integrated battery? No problem! Cartello offers a kit for the aforementioned outboards, in order to take advantage of the charactersitics we mentioned.

A chance you cannot miss!

Cartello and Cantiere Mimì: inseparable twosome!

Have you ever heard of  Cantiere Mimì? If your answer is no, we strongly recommend to make amends! It is a Neapolitan shipyard driven by the Senese family since 1975, a family that lives the sea with love since forever. So, considering the shared values such as care for detail and attention to clients, we could not avoid to be one of their partners. Yanmar engines are an example of quality and reliability and they can be well placed side by side with the style and tradition of the Senese family.

The 12AY-WST: a nautical jewel

Cartello Srl recently completed the trade of one of the engines representing a real pride for the company: the Yanmar engine 12AY-WST.

Why is it so important to dedicate a news to it? Because it is a real jewel. Let’s go and explore its characteristics.

First of all, the engine has an elevated torque, allowing it to compete with engines with up to 50 ltr of displacement, although it is just 40 ltr. Since it is a Heavy Duty, the engine permits up to a maximum of 6000 hours of use, 10/12 hours per day of work at maximum performance, with 80% of the work at maximum performance out of the entirety of the work hours. Moreover, this kind of engine assures as well15.000 hours of motion before proceeding with maintenance works and 30.000 hours before needing a complete inspection.

All this gives particular advantages for those having a Yanmar 12AY-WST:

Accountability and longevity of the engine
• Reduced and programmable boat downtimes
• Powerful and long-lasting performance
Ease of maintenance, thanks to independent cylinder heads and side doors to inspect the engine
• Low fuel consumption.

Our engine will be used to equip a 26m fishing boat, operating in the area of Anzio (RM), equipped until today with another engine of ours. The old engine finally “retires”, after 15 years, although still perfectly functioning.

For more information about the engine, see the relative documents: Technical Sheet and Rating definition.

Stefano Perticaroli: from the repair shop to the Academy

Stefano Perticaroli recently entered Cartello network with his company, Motor Boat and Sail. A strongly desired choice from both parts, dictated by common interests and achieved thanks to a favourable occasion occurred when the former Master Dealer for Marche abandoned the activity of Yanmar engines supplier. Motor Boat and Sail has been working for years in the marine sector, not only in the Marche, but this is its first time with Yanmar engines. We spoke with the owner, Stefano Perticaroli, to know more about the company and the services it offers.

Tell us a bit about your reality. How was Motor Boat and Sail born and which is your core business?
Motor Motor Boat and Sail (MBS) is one of the society managed by Perticaroli’s family: Gabriele, a professional mechanic for 40 years and I, Stefano, who have been managing for 30 years the commercial side. MBS’s core business is the trade of engines, motor and sail boats and technical assistance with a specialised repair shop for restoration and maintenance. MBS also has a private jetty to host boats up 30 mt, in assistance.

What makes MBS different from other similar companies?
The nautical sector is characterised by many different activities, which are all complementary. MBS has a specific structure that allows it to supply all these services inside and outside Italy.

Where did the decision to enter Cartello network come from?
Yanmar supplies high-level products and services and any company that wants to raise the bar of quality should cooperate with Cartello and Yanmar. It seemed a natural solution, if you take into consideration the root we entered with our business.

Which are the advantages MBS will offer to clients in the region of Marche?
Certainly fast and professional assistance, as well as a replacement service with original spare parts, by setting clear and professional strategies as such a prestigious brand deserves.

You also created a true Academy. Tell us about it.
The “Nautica Manager Academy” is the only professional course in the world training future nautical managers. It was born two years ago from my idea of creating a network of professionals connected among them by means of a dedicated structure to speed all the processes of sale and services supply. In a really short time the Academy grew so much to require a dedicated team that is giving us a lot of satisfaction.

Which is your link with the territory?
My family is well known in the region and very well integrated. Gabriele and I are members of all the nautical associations and share many activities with them. Hence, our family is strongly rooted in the region of Marche.

How do you see the future of this market?
Economic cycles are cycle indeed and as the Professor Longoni from Bocconi University says, we are living an important growing phase that will last for many years. It is clear that there can be some deviations, but we are in a good moment, it is proved by all the nautical shows with a good trend. I can compare them every year by participating in those of Cannes, Genoa, Barcelona, Fort Lauderdale, Paris and Düsseldorf.

We wish Stefano a great success with his Academy and hope his cooperation with Cartello and Yanmar will be long and productive.
